“I Love Volleyball”
Fun and fast paced, with its reliance on team work and limited physical contact, volleyball is one of the most popular and fastest growing youth sports in the country. For boys, it is THE NUMBER ONE fasting growing sport.
Eligibility: Open to all 5th - 8th grade children actively enrolled in our parish school or religious education programs.
Team Formation:
Sign-up is held each spring for this sport. No team shall have more than twelve players (maximum). If the number of sign-ups exceeds this number, the volleyball coordinator must obtain approval from the Athletic Director/Athletic Board to have a larger team. Alternatively, if numbers permit, we may split into two or more teams. Evaluations are required before splitting teams.
5th and 6th grade - Split evenly based on talent.
7th and 8th grade - Divide into A and B teams. In the event a 7th/8th grader decides they do not want to be considered for the A team, they would not be required to attend the player evaluation days.
Season: Practices begin in mid-August. Games begin the weekend after Labor day and run through the first week in November.
Practices:
5th and 6th Grade - Twice per week for 90 minutes. Days TBD.
7th and 8th Grade - Twice per week for 120 minutes. Days TBD.
Games:
Boys: Play in the Metro Volleyball Conference. League games are Friday nights. Typically, at 6pm, 7pm, or 8pm.
Girls: Play in the Parkview Parkview Parochial League. Games are typically on Saturday or Sunday between 9am and 4pm.
Volunteering:
Parents are required to volunteer a few hours each season to run our home game operations. A volunteer sign-up will be sent before the season.
Tournaments:
Teams may participate in pre-season, mid-season, and post season tournaments subject to the following limitations:
5th and 6th grade teams: Limited to participation in two tournaments.
7th and 8th grade teams: Limited to participation in three tournaments.
Elizabeth Seton Volleyball Championships: 8th grade teams, if invited, may play in the Elizabeth Seton Invitational, an archdiocese wide tournament at the conclusion of the season, in addition to the tournaments above.
